CONTEXT

Until 2015, SNCF (french railway company) was providing traffic information via three different smartphone applications.
In a logic of rationalization, SNCF has decided to group these applications in one:  SNCF application

The promise of this new app ?
- Assist travelers during their entire experience of travelling with SNCF across the entire french territory.

ROLE

As a part of an agile team, I was responsible for the user experience strategy and design of the iOS and Android application.
I lead the UX work, producing all major deliverables and presenting this documentation to the team.
I worked alongside a multidisciplinary team consisting of a product owner, a scrum master, back and front office developers, art director and testers.

Duration of my intervention:
- From February 2015 and December 2015

RESEARCH

When I started the project, the MVP of the application was already developed and ready to be launched. But many more features were supposed to be added to the application during the next year.

In order to determine which features to add, we needed to evaluate the pain and gain of each feature for the user's point of view.

To achieve this task, we made stakeholder workshop. The purpose of these workshops was to fill value proposition canvas and business model canvas for each feature and each personae previously created.

IDEATION

All user stories concerning user interface are the subject of a study to evaluate their integration in the interface.
To do this, I used different tools depending of the story:

Do Go Map : draw the IA architecture and keep an overview of the user's journey

Rough sketches: share and update quickly with team members

Wireframes: share specifications for a specific user story with team members and stakeholders

Prototypes: some complex stories needed to be tested before any development. In order to do this, I made quick prototypes with Marvel

USER TESTING

For user stories having an important impact on the user experience,
I made user tests to try our design assumptions

CONCLUSION

Released in March 2015, the application has reached 2 million
downloads in December 2015 for iOS and Android.

iOS application rate in December 2015 : 3,5 / 5
Android application rate in December 2015: 3,3 / 5
